In 2014, CIOs across Africa had identified some of their key areas of focus to be corporate governance, risk and compliance, access to connectivity, the role a CIO will play in a recovering economy, being a cost-saver, and driving innovation with enterprise architecture. In 2015, these same CIOs are beginning to understand the need to invest in technology spending. IT budgets are increasing, and it has become a time of innovation and change across the multiple regions of this large continent. Technology is playing a larger role in enterprises across Africa.
Successful African CIOs are those that view technology as a business enhancer and a source of business growth. Having an enterprise with an effective IT leader is becoming of paramount importance to these African businesses where technology is the key enabler of growth. From the recent growth of the business intelligence and analytics side of technology combined with other business processes to the adoption of mobility, cloud and social, CIOs in Africa have a lot of changes to discuss, and therefore gathering with a group of their peers could not come at a better time.
