The Ghana International Model United Nations Conference will bring together global-thinking tertiary and high school students to simulate the General Assembly and other Specialized Bodies of the United Nations.

CONFERENCE INFO:

The GIMUN Team in partnership with the United Nations Information Centre, Accra; United Nations University; with support from Minerva University and Idea Africa (NGO) will be organizing the Eighth Session once again in Accra, Ghana on 3rd – 7th January, 2017. The theme for next year’s Ghana International Model UN conference is, “Global Goals; Better People.”EXHIBITION AFFAIRS

They will focus on how the adopted Global Goals (the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals) could help improve the livelihood of the people of the world.

The annual students’ conference aims to prepare young people for global assignments by equipping them with leadership skills which would be required of them when they get the opportunity to manage the UN. It also raises the awareness on the role the United Nations plays in world affairs and to encourage the next generation of leaders to get involved in global issues. Several measures have been taken to ensure that the simulation accurately reflects the way the UN works. The conference shall therefore be directed by very experienced young people and in addition, intensive training sessions will be conducted for both officials and delegates by the UN Information Centre in Accra before the main conference. As part of our Peer Review Partnership, some officials will attend other international Model UN Conferences in Europe to broaden their knowledge in conference management. Our Training Manual has also been updated to meet the current standards of Model UN.

GIMUN would work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration; Ministry of Education; United Nations Agencies and Groups; Student Unions/Groups, other Model UN Associations and many youth groups to coordinate the conference. GIMUN 2017 will be much inclusive to ensure it is gender balanced and provides an equal chance for students from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds to participate.
